Tarantin is Moving Forward
We launched the new website back in October 2015 with two goals in mind.
One, we wanted to merge our two websites (information and online shopping) into one. Having two websites is like having two storefronts. Imagine going into Home Depot and they had one building where you could find information on the products, but then had to go to the building next to it to buy that tool. Even with a door connecting the two buildings shopping there would be a nightmare.
Two, we wanted to be able to easily make changes as we saw the need. Unfortunately this was not possible with the last online shopping site. We usually had to rely on an outside vendor to make the changes and even then the changes we wanted to make might not be allowed. Imagine owning a home where maintaining the landscaping meant having to rely on an outside source and sometimes that source didn’t think a garden, or a tree, was necessary so you couldn’t have it.
However, one of the changes that the website really needed was reworking the Category List.
Category List Changes
We recently reworked the Category List on the website. The top categories have remained the same, but the subcategories have been streamlined in an effort to help you find what you’re looking for. As we move forward, and come across sections that could be better laid out, we’ll make those changes.
One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is that we’ve started adding picture representations of each subcategory as a visual reference of what you will find. After all, a picture is worth a thousand words. It’s all part of our commitment to creating a smooth online experience.
Website Survey Results
We would like to thank everyone who participated in our website survey. The information you provided will be a huge help with what we need to do to continue creating an easier online shopping experience. As a result of this survey you’ll notice a few changes coming soon:
We’ll be strengthening the search function
In the coming weeks we’ll be adding more keywords (phrases that describe the part) to the coding of the website. This will allow our customers to type a variation of the item number, item size, product name, part of a description, etc. You’ll no longer need the exact item number to find what they’re looking for.
Reworking the Cart Checkout pages
A big problem is the checkout process isn’t as clear cut as you, or we, want it to be. These pages will see a layout change that will make it easy to know the next step and function more naturally.
The Future
So what does this all mean? It means the Tarantin Industries is looking forward. We want to be able to grow with you, and one of the ways we plan on doing that is by strengthening our online presence. Other things that are coming soon are more pictures of the items. As you can imagine with all the products we offer that will be a major undertaking that will start this summer. We’ll also start creating videos that takes our customers through step by step instruction on using different sections of the website (like online shopping).
We thank you for being so patient with us during these past 6 months. The end result will be a Tarantin website that will be easy to use.
